Sultan collection: Salman Khan’s film earns Rs 200cr in 5 days, galloping towards Rs 250cr

Salman Khan’s Sultan has collected a whopping Rs 180.36 crore at the domestic box office in just five days of its release.

Salman khan might be embroiled in controversies, but that is no dampener for the star’s stardom. One look at the box office collection of his recently-released film Sultan is evidence of the fact that probably nothing can touch Salman’s popularity among his fans.

Sultan, which hit the screens on July 6, has already earned Rs 180.36 crore at the box office. The film did a business of Rs 38.21 crore on its first Sunday at the box office in India.

Salman Khan also took to Twitter to thank his fans for appreciating Sultan:

Sultan opened to Rs 36.54 crore at the domestic box office, followed by a glorious three days. After its fourth day at the screens, the Salman Khan film had already collected Rs 142.62 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:

On its fifth day at the ticket windows

Sultan has earned Rs 38.21 crore on its first Sunday at the box office. The Sunday collection has sent the total figure skyrocketing to a whopping Rs 180.36 crore.

Sultan is Salman Khan’s only release this year, a film that has been in the news for many days now. To begin with, the Ali Abbas Zafar-directed film saw Salman pushing himself physically to a level hitherto unseen as far as Khan is concerned. The actor went through rigorous training and had to undergo gruelling workout sessions to get into the shape of a wrestler.

In fact, it was while talking about his training for Sultan that Salman ended up comparing himself to a ‘raped woman’, the analogy that saw several sections of people up in arms against him.

Salman plays the titular role of Sultan in the film, an Olympic gold medallist who is pulled out of retirement to give an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) championship a new lease of life.

Apart from Salman in the lead role, Sultann stars Anushka Sharma, Amit Sadh, Parikshit Sahni, Kumud Mishra and Randeep Hooda in pivotal roles.

Salman’s 2016 Eid release has already crossed the lifetime business of several releases this year, in just five days at the screens. Sultan is expected to do a Rs 300 crore+ business.
